Vindictus is an action massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) created. In Vindictus, 'classes' and 'characters' are one and the same.
Kai and Chain Vella are objectively the best characters for break-offs. Fiona is objectively the best character for stacking ungodly amounts of defense. Most importantly, Arisha objectively has the biggest assets.Just a few notes about the game that new players might question:.Every single character is viable late game, and they're all within a 10% difference in strength (probably smaller, skill is so hard to measure) assuming optimal conditions. Maybe at ungodly levels of gear (26k+ ATT, 90-100+ AS) you'll see some characters shoot ahead like Scythe Evie, but more or less everybody's balanced around skill and gear.
I once got 35% damage done in the spider Royal Raid on my Lynn at level 43 because everybody was a god damn potato and it took 40 minutes to kill it.Utility-wise everything's icing on top, nothing is required because you should be able to take care of yourself in a raid. Break-offs are probably the most 'wanted' of all the utilities because of extra drops = more chances for good shit, but those can usually be done by anybody really. Everybody's got the tools they need to succeed.Rather than trying to state which character is better than others, it's better to categorize them into what suits your style more. All of them have certain levels of gear reliance, dodging style, solo/raid DPS, mob clearing, etc. It's best to find characters that suit your style in particular instead of looking for 'the best' because they're all good. The one that tops the damage charts is always the dude with the best gear who got hit less, doesn't matter who it is.Literally everybody mashes the same attacks once you've got enough attack speed.
Some have more variety in what they can do apart from spamming their strong smashes, but it still all boils down to getting those big hits off. This game's more about dodging than anything, so you tend to just use the strongest smash you can fit in.Seriously play what you want. The only seriously gimped character I've played was Chain Vella soloing fast bosses, but Sword Vella more than makes up for that anyway.I've played everybody to 90 but Karok and Fiona in the game so I can answer any further questions you might have. Fiona's good for getting stupid amounts of defense so she can literally eat boss attacks to the face without needing to block/dodge. Karok's 'dodge' also happens to be timing your attacks to eat boss attacks to the face, but it's not actual facetanking like a 18k defense Fiona. There's no real tanking in this game since you're always in the 'danger zone' when playing efficiently, so you're always going to have to dodge pretty much every attack that happens.
For the most part the bosses attack whatever player is close to them, though the older bosses are definitely aggro'd by players drinking potions/sitting at campfires/performing emotes.Note that a 18k def Fiona is not something you get by accident, it's about as much work as it would be upgrading your attack to high levels. Sylas had some minor tweaks done that make him more interesting than ever, but even before that you had to get to level 60 and beyond before he wasn't 100% repetitive. Honestly, most of the chars aren't really exciting before level 60. Scythe Evie is horribad at low levels, and Staff isn't much better. Same for many chars.Hurk is fun, but he has some pretty big drawbacks in S3. Regardless, play whom you enjoy. Roll a few different characters before you decide which to focus on, but definitely play up until higher levels before you write them off unless you're just extremely taken with the char you're playing.

I used to think Fiona was boring as it gets until I watched some guide videos and saw how many different ways she could fight and combo outside of just shield bashing/deflecting.Also keep in mind that how you play makes all the difference. With my +11 90 weap I've come out top damage in raids even when there are people in there with +15s and full gear at times.
AI behavior in various situations has been improved. Aim assist has been implemented for controllers. Matchmaking rules have been tweaked to improve online play. Pickups now gravitate towards nearby vehicles. The current Game Mode is now visable on the Scoreboard. Shockrods.

Really knowing your character and actually enjoying playing them and getting the most out of them makes or breaks the results. All the characters are viable late game. Lategame Sylas is a great contributor to large raids for his many party buffs and heals. His damage isn't quite as high as Hurk's but he's no slouch. The damage potential between the character that deals the most damage and the one that deals the least is small enough that gear and skill will make a much larger difference than character type. You're currently only lvl 17, you have almost none of your character abilities and smashes unlocked.
Play until around lvl 60 when you have all your abilities and you might change your mind. In general:Top DPS: Kai (crossgun bow), Arisha, staff evie, (only if you use continual focus at the expense of regen) and cestus karok.Good DPS but too situational:Spear lann/Scythe evie: Sandbags only, spear lann being much better than scythe at sandbags.Hurk: Mainly on enemies that let you spam deflect (e.g. Shining keag), s3 bosses have a lot fewer deflect openings so hurk is meh there. Hurk is also really bad at small enemies due to the reliance on spamming dodge + smash.Best survivability/solo: Sword vella, karok, Fiona and Arisha.Sword vella kills mobs a lot faster than Fiona and does more DPS, especially if you can spam crosscut (the first hit only on fast multi hit combos). Hammer Fiona is meh.Pillar karok has more survivability but cestus does more damage.Arisha has tons of i-frames, counters and blocks.Best breakoff skills: Kai, chain vella (nobody else has decent breakoff skills anyway).
